What begins as spectacle gradually becomes part of everyday life. The Erosion of Spectacle follows the temporary presence of a stranded barge on Vancouver’s Sunset Beach as public attention slowly dissolves into familiarity. Through sustained observation over the course of a year, the work examines how collective acts of looking produce temporary forms of social space and how extraordinary events are eventually absorbed into the rhythms of everyday experience. The project extends the practice from individual perception toward the shared temporalities of public life.
